 Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we have our Wedding Filmed by a Professional?

This is a very good question and one that has many answers. The best reason in our opinion is to ensure that you get the best coverage on the best equipment by the best film makers. Having your day filmed by a friend or family member is fine as a last resort if budget is a problem. However many of our enquiries come from couples who have had such a solution in place only to be let down at the last minute. Don't get us wrong, having it filmed at least by someone is better than not at all; but they will more than likely be restricted in what they are allowed to film and from where. Our camera operators can negotiate the best vantage points for all kinds of venues.
Not only will you end up with a professional DVD of your day; but will be safe in the knowledge that all your key moments are captured using state of the art cameras and audio devices. Hand held cameras used by guests or family will have trouble recording the audio and suffer from a large degree of instability as a rule. CLICK HERE for an example of a DIY wedding video.
Let's not forget that this is a once in a lifetime event, never again will the same exact people be gathered together for such an occasion. Look at the film as a Legacy to pass down through generations capturing much more that photographs alone. Imagine your great grand children watching it in years to come. For those reasons alone, isn't it worth doing properly?

What Cameras do you use?
We currently use Sony Cameras, Broadcast quality and High Definition Capable. We use industry standard editing and effect suites during post production.

Do we need a Copyright License?
Yes. A Copyright License is required to be able to film your big day. The type will depend on what you require. We do not include this in our listed prices as they are relatively easy to obtain for yourself and can be more cost efficient. We can of course source the licenses on your behalf for an admin fee of £49.99. If you wish to source the licenses yourself, then please let our representative know and they will provide you with the details in order to do this. DIGIMEM require the license at least 2 weeks prior to the event. If you are obtaining all licenses for yourself, please post them to us 2 weeks before the event. Please beware of companies advising that you do not need a copyright license, this is unlawful and misguiding. It is a breach of copyright law to use any commercial music or hymns without the appropriate license within a Video or DVD.

Can we include our own Music?
Yes. A European Copyright License (ECL) has to be purchased to cover this. Our representative can go through this with you during a consultation. You can include a maximum of 3 songs for the DVD HIGHLIGHT reel only. We do not incorporate own music choices within the main DVD. The Main timeline will include instrumental music to suit the mood of the day. Songs must be supplied to us as soon as possible and no later that the Wedding date itself. If we do not have the songs by this timescale we will use artistic license and include music deemed appropriate for the HIGHLIGHT reel. We are unable to accept own choice material once editing has begun.

What’s different about you from other Videographers out there?
We pride ourselves on being competitively priced yet offering a very high quality of service. We take care to capture those key moments and blend in with your guests to make them feel at ease with us. We’ll come to you and go through your requirements and get to know you a little before the big day. We offer several AD ONS that other companies don’t. We are Friendly and reliable. We give your film the time and effort it deserves. We provide a UNIQUE DVD MENU on your DVD (No two DVD menus are the same). We provide an additional BONUS disc if your film runs over to include other moments that were worth a look. We also include a free Highlight Film and. We have a very satisfied client base (just check the Testimonials)
Above all, we are totally transparent, we publish all our prices and don't make you enquire. We also know our business and tech.

How do you film a ceremony?
We are a 3 person team as a rule which includes 2 cameramen. Naturally with 2 cameras we can capture much more from various angles. Where we stand within the Church or registry office is very much at the discretion of the Vicar or registrar. Some will not allow filming from the front; some will not allow 2 cameras. We get to the venue early enough to negotiate placement and try our best to sweet talk our way into prime spots. We do strongly recommend that you discuss this with your Venue representative beforehand. The Speeches are also filmed with 2 cameras, Left and right usually (depending on space). Unfortunately on occasion this can result in us getting in the way of some guests but we will discuss this with you on the day and ensure this is ok with the Bride and Groom. If you prefer us not to be in a certain position we can move but may jeopardise coverage.

Do you Film in High Definition?
Yes we do. There is an additional charge for this service due to the extra time required to edit the footage. Please keep in mind that HD footage is output to a Blu-ray disc and you will require compatible equipment to play this back. If you are considering copies for family and Friends, they would also need such players. We can produce a Standard Definition DVD from HD footage at an additional charge. Please ask our representative about this option.

Your prices are very low. Are we going to get a quality job?
At DIGIMEM we pride ourselves on Quality and Value. We may be cheaper than some of our competitors but we do not compromise on quality, content or options. We offer much more than other companies at a lower rate. Just check out our testimonials. Our prices will be subject to change in the near future but right now you can enjoy a professional service and great rates.

What happens if it rains on my day – will it stop you filming?
For light rain we have rain covers for the cameras and very big umbrellas. If it is raining too hard your photographer will decide on where your main photos will be taken, this is very often inside the church and/or your reception venue. Whatever the circumstance we will keep our cameras rolling as much as possible. If it’s pouring you won’t want to be stood out in that in any case!!

Do we need to feed you?
Due to the long day we will require refreshments whilst Filming a SILVER or GOLD Package. These are often bar meals (pre-arranged by the bride and groom), some sandwiches and a drink or another option. We usually take a break to eat whilst you are having your Wedding Breakfast. We are only human and it’s a full on day for your Videographer.

Do you cover other events?
Yes. Just contact us with your requirements. We offer these services also.

Do you charge for Consultations?
No.

Do you travel further than the Midlands?
Yes. A Mileage Surcharge would become applicable.

Can we provisionally book a date?
Unfortunately not. Due to the high demand for dates, we no longer allow provisional bookings. However you can secure a date with a deposit.

How long will my DVD be in time?
On average a Bronze Package package would run about an hour. Silver runs for about 1 ½ Hours and Gold about 2 hours. We capture all key moments and use editing techniques to trim content down to fit on a DVD disc. Typically we can fit up to a maximum of 2 hours onto a dual layered DVD and retain optimum quality. A Blu-Ray disc can hold much more.

How long will the completed DVD take to be delivered?
Our timescales are generally pretty quick, however during peak season it can take a little longer. Please allow 6-10 weeks for the finished DVD. You can request EXPRESS Editing if you need it within a shorter timescale (charges apply).

What if the Wedding should get cancelled?
This has never happened but we appreciate something might occur to jeopardise the event. In most cases we are flexible to re-schedule (if appropriate and depending on date availability). Depending on the circumstances, we would look at each individual case and evaluate. For cancellation charges please refer to our Terms & Conditions.

What if you are unable to attend our Wedding Event due to Ill Health or Crisis?
In this unfortunate circumstance we will try to arrange cover for your event. If however it is not possible; a full refund will be given immediately.

What if your equipment malfunctions or fails all together?
This is not a likely scenario; however these are mechanical devices with high end sensors, micro chips and fragile components. If a camera failure should occur during the course of your event we carry a Handheld back up unit with us to take over coverage. If all 3 units should fail then we would negotiate a revised fee depending on what we had covered so far and the extent of the fault. Complete and total failure resulting in none of your day being captured would of course carry a full refund.

Do you keep a copy of our Wedding DVD?
• We keep the raw footage from your day for 12 months unless you purchase this from us.
• We keep your finished project on our system for a period of 18 months. This is a digitised image of your film and all related digitised footage.
• We keep a Master copy of your DVD in our archives for a period of 4 years. This means that if your copy becomes damaged, lost or stolen, you are still able to order a duplicate produced from our master copy.
• If your date was more than 4 years ago, please still contact us as we may be able to help
